In 1997, daycare for dogs was a strange concept (and maybe just a little crazy). But that didn’t stop Lauren Westreich from opening one. What began with only a few dogs, one employee, and some agility equipment, has matured into the Bay Area’s pre-eminent dog daycare and boarding facility, caring for well over a hundred dogs every day. What hasn’t changed is our original mission: we care for each dog as though they are our own. The safety and well-being of your family member is our only goal.
Lauren Westreich – Founder
Almost 20 years ago, dog daycare as we know it didn’t exist. My own dogs, Loki, a Malamute mix; Ferdinand, a Ridgeback/Doberman mix; and Tonka, a black scruffy dog; meant the world to me, so I made a conscious decision to shift gears and pursue a career where dogs were the centerpiece.
The idea was to create a veritable heaven for dogs – a place where they could romp and play with their friends freely and safely. As it turns out, opening the business turned out to be the easy part. Creating, establishing, and refining the procedures necessary to provide an environment that would meet the needs of every dog we cared for continues to be the challenging part. For the last 20 years, I have worked to create a business where every day has been devoted to enriching the lives of every dog we meet. My goal is, and always has been, to provide exactly the kind of haven I wanted for my dogs.
Loki, Ferdinand, and Tonka will always be remembered as the inspiration for Every Dog. They enriched my life in ways too numerous to list. Nowadays, I share my life with Romeo, a goofy Border Collie mix who brings boundless energy to his unending quest for balls and makes us all smile in the process.
